Nedbank Runners' Guide 2010

In 2010 the Nedbank Runners’ Guide to Road Races in South Africa celebrates its 19th edition. This book has been around long enough and has been read by enough runners to earn its title “The Runners’ Bible”. This is an essential guide for anyone who wants to do some running in 2010.

Tom Cottrell lists well over 830 races in the new guide. He researched all the old favourites, and they are there in detail. This edition also looks at some of the lesser-known runs that are best kept secrets. Find out about the Running of the BullShitters, or the Mad Hatters race. South African road running is vibrant, well organized and in many cases, its fun.

All the essential information is there, the date, time and venue. The contact details are comprehensive and are well researched. In many instances the entry rules and details are given. The course descriptions are comprehensive and a great number of races show the route profile, such essential information when planning to run a good race.

Tom’s editor’s notes are informative as well. Some history of the race is given, as well as time limits and how many runners finished the race last year. Add to that details of prizes and give-aways and course records and this publication goes a long way in filling any information gaps there may be in road running. The 2009 edition has been completely re-written from top to bottom. We used the services of new editors and the overall impression is fresh and far more personal.

The book is available at Sportsmans Warehouse and a number of popular running shops. It is also available through the normal book trade, Exclusive Books, Estoril Books and at C.N.A. Retail price is R110.00 including VAT.
